Our city is sick with crazy bad guys, the capes who are always fighting them, and cops and politicians who only care about themselves and look the other way when the awful rains down. You’ve heard of “Protect and Serve”? Well, for us it’s “Protect and Survive”. Everyday. The bigwigs, lawdogs, and capes don’t watch out for the lessers and that’s where we come in. We fight for the overlooked. We fight for the ignored. We fight for our friends. And more than anything else, we fight for each other.
I put this family together. It’s up to me, my right hand woman, Bones, the big, dangerous teddy bear, Turk, and our little guy, that crazy kid, Spaz, to keep the streets and our friends safe. Not too long ago, as a favor to a friend, we added a new guy, Sean. His life has taken a craptastic turn lately and he’s gonna need us. He doesn’t always like to take orders, but as long as he doesn’t get in the way and think he’s calling the shots, he’ll be fine.
We don’t have “super power”. We don’t have crazy tech. We live on the streets of NPC, we play by those rules, and we’re the best at it... So don’t even think about crossing us. You want “super heroes”? Turn on the TV. Catch Black Falcon and American Splendor sucking up the spotlight. You won’t read about us in the papers or see us on TV. Most don’t even know we exist ‘til they need us. But we are watching from the shadows. That said, we’ve had enough... And we’re not going to take it anymore.
Capes, Crooks and Cops had their chance. We are the defenders of the lost. We are the guardians of the streets. We are the VIGIs and we're coming for you...

A writer, teacher, musician, and sometimes painter, Matthew’s first love (outside of his wife and family) has always been comic books. The world of super heroes and villains is a special one for him. The son of a police officer, he would see his father put on a uniform and go out into the world to help people. Matthew would stay home and watch Batman and read stories all about how The Caped Crusader would defeat the Rouges Gallery. Simply put, Matthew saw no difference in the two... His dad was Batman. And his love for comics has never stopped. Matthew usually spends his time writing with his dog Oliver by his side.

Ryan is the proud father of 4 girls and the luckiest husband in the world. on the rare occasions that he is not spending time with his beautiful wife, playing with his girls or finding one more way to justify eating pancakes, you may find him making comics. If you find him with all of those qualifiers and not making comics, ask him who he thinks he is, wasting such precious moments of prime creativity real estate. Remind him that no one wants to wait a year for a second issue of a black & white comic and that entire animated features are coming out with tighter production deadlines and there’s no reading involved. Then promptly bid him adieu.
